Minnie Mouse Birthday

Gracie requested to celebrate her 5th birthday Minnie Mouse style!
I am not a huge fan of the children's character merchandise, but no matter how much we try to stick to basic designs kids always love the stuff they see on TV.  So, here is my compromise.  A Minnie themed party using basic party supplies that I modified to meet Gracie's selected theme.  I picked up plain black plates and polka dot napkins at Target.  I cut out ears using my Cameo and taped them to the plates with scrapbook adhesive.  I stapled a little napkin ring made out of card stock to the top of the plates and slipped the napkins in the paper rings to make Minnie's adorable bow.

I made simple and quick favors with plain treat bags purchased at Party City.  I made my own Minnie shape with circles in my Cameo software and cut out the Minnie heads and names out of card stock.  I used ribbon in my stash and punched holes to tie the ribbon through from the back to keep the bag closed as well as give Minnie another bow.

The cupcakes are just chocolate cupcakes with white tub icing.  The Minnie ears are mini oreos and the bows are made with pre-made fondant I purchased at JoAnn's.  I bought a little tiny bow mold, and similar to modeling clay, I stuck the fondant into the mold and popped out these tiny little bows.

The bigger smash cake has regular sized Oreos and
I cut strips of the pre-made fondant to form the pink bow.

Here is the birthday girl (after a fun day of playing and swimming) making a wish!

In pics I saw before I hadn't realized that the "bows" were the napkins--so clever!!! All so adorable! I wish you lived closer so you could help me with my kids' parties.. I just don't have that knack for it the way you do.
